Ranya Ghatas, B.Sc., B.Sc. Hon. OT, Reg. (Ont.)

Ranya Ghatas graduated from Queen’s University with a Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy, with honours and has since been working as an Occupational Therapist in private sector, providing community-based services since 2002. Her current practice includes providing assessments and treatments of individuals who have sustained serious orthopedic, spinal cord and traumatic brain injuries; as well as, psychological and cognitive impairments. Her experience includes performing home modification assessments, determining and coordinating the need for assistive devices to enable functioning; as well as, working as part of a multi-disciplinary team both in the hospital and the community.

Ranya has special interest and training in assessing pediatric and youth population with congenital and acquired brain injuries, affecting their physical, emotional and cognitive functioning. She maintains an active caseload that includes case management, hospital discharge planning, in-home assessments, implementation of functional restoration programs, assessment of Attendant care needs, work site evaluations and catastrophic determination assessments.

Ranya has completed the American Board of Forensic Professionals Impairment Rating course and holds valid certification in impairment and disability rating based on the AMA Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment, 4th Edition. She is trained and certified in the administration of the Assessment of Motor and Process Skills (AMPs) and has successfully completed the Level 1 Children and Youth with Acquired Brain Injury certification training program through Brock University. Ranya has been recognized and accepted as an Expert Witness in the area of Occupational Therapy practice and regularly attends seminars and workshops to remain current on the SABS and her areas of practice.
