CSME-CAPDA C-CAT Certification Exam

Successful completion of this program will qualify clinical participants to write the
CSME-CAPDA C-CAT Certification Exam—April 1, 2017 on Saturday April 1, 2017 @ 6:00-9:00PM

Goal: to create a “Gold-standard” Ontario CSME-CAPDA C-CAT certification program that will be recognized by all stakeholders as a valuable attestation of an IME assessor’s clinical and legislative knowledge base and their commitment to uphold the highest level of ongoing clinical education and training to advance their skill sets in this regard. Should an individual not be available to write the exam following the course, they may write the exam at a future scheduled exam within 1 year of attending the pre-requisite course.

To qualify to write the exam, an individual must belong to a regulated health professional:  The exam will be written following the course beginning at 6:00 p.m. and will be approximately 2.5 hours long.  A light dinner will be provided before the exam

A. Pathways to Certification:

1. Physical [C-CAT(P)]

  • Clinicians who have previously completed a full 8-16 hour training course in the AMA Guides to the Evaluation of Permanent Impairment 4th Ed. In the past 2 years from an internationally recognized organization (CSME, AADEP, IAIME, ABIME etc.) with accompanying documentation:
    • Must attend the CSME/CAPDA 2017 Update course
    • Following completion, the clinician may sit for the C-CAT(P) exam.

  • Clinicians who have not successfully completed an AMA4 course in the past 2 years:
  • Must attend the CSME/CAPDA 2017 Update course
  • Must have completed previously the CSME/IAIME AMA4 course or its equivalent
  • Following completion of the two above requirements, the clinician may sit for the C-CAT(P) exam.

2. Mental/Behavioral [C-CAT(M)]

  • All clinicians must attend the CSME/CAPDA 2017 update course
  • All Clinicians must attend the CSME/CAPDA Mental Behavioral workshop training on Day 2.
  • Following completion of the two above requirements, the clinician may sit for the C-CAT(M) exam

B. Ongoing Maintenance of C-CAT certification (both P and M):

  • On an annual basis, the clinician must provide documented evidence of a minimum of 5 hours of successful completion of CME activities specifically addressing Ontario Statutory Accident Benefits Schedule (SABS) Catastrophic legislation and clinical development.
  • The C-CAT certification and designation is valid for a three (3) year period, following which the clinician must satisfy re-certification criteria which are identical to those outlined in Section A above or a pre-approved alternative as such training sessions evolve over time.

Should you be unable to write the exam at this time, please note that you will be eligible to write the exam at another scheduled sitting within one (1) year of attending the CAPDA-CSME C-CATcertification program. The next sitting will take place at the CSME program “Concussion in the Medical Legal Forum: Pearls and Pitfalls”, which will be held on Friday, May 12th in Toronto.

The fee for writing the CSME-CAPDA C-CAT certification exam is:
(Physicians, Psychologists & Neuropsychologists)............................................................$495 + 13% HST

(Allied Health Professionals:
Occupational Therapists/Chiropractors/ Physical Therapists/Kinesiologists).....................$295+ 13% HST
