General Membership 

Purpose of CSME

  • To unite into a single organization all Canadian practitioners who are committed to the highest possible professional standards in the performance of third party medical evaluations.
  • To provide a forum for the sharing of knowledge, experience and ideas amongst Canadian medical evaluators.
  • To advance the interests of members by developing and publishing appropriate standards, guidelines and positions related to practical, professional, ethical medicolegal work.
  • To advise the medical profession at large, as well as other professions, organizations and government agencies, on all matters regarding medical evaluations.
  • To be available as an expert body for consultation by other organizations and government agencies on all matters concerning medical evaluations in Canada.
  • To provide relevant information about medicolegal evaluations and reports suitable for informing potential evaluees, the legal profession and the insurance industry.
  • To assist the legal profession and insurance industry in locating physicians with suitable expertise, who are regionally available and interested in offering their services.
  • To assist physicians who wish to develop the skills and expertise necessary to providing professional quality medicolegal services.

Upon successful admission to the Canadian Society of Medical Evaluators, the applicant will receive:

Maintenance of Membership

Renewal of membership is dependant upon payment of the annual fee and adherence to CSME Guidelines of Practice.

Fees

  • The Membership Fee in the year of application is $295. Fee must accompany the application to CSME.
  • The normal yearly membership fee will be due and payable on January 1st of the year following acceptance.

A cheque, money order or credit card number must accompany the application. Requests for cancellation, adjustment or refund must be made in writing and received at the CSME office.
